The Backstory

2007

In 2007, Morgan State University professor Dr. Iola Davis, contacted Allan Waschak at Allan Homes after her home in Cooksville burned down after a lightening strike.  Allan worked with her to budget a rebuild of her home. After the contract was signed, one of Dr. Davis daughters convinced her that it would be better to move into a new 55 plus community in Columbia instead of rebuilding.  Allan understood the situation and let her out of the contract without any penalties. Dr. Davis was so impressed with Allan’s willingness to look out for her interests first that she hired him to sell the land on which her original home stood.  Since Allan is a Realtor as well as a builder, he was able to successfully sell the property at the price Dr. Davis was asking.

2017

This is after another Realtor had listed the property without success for over two years.  Given Allan’s past successes, it was an easy decision for Dr. Davis to select him as her real estate agent in 2017 when she was ready to retire and sell her home in one of Columbia’s premiere 55 plus communities.  Given the home’s large square footage (over 5,000 sq ft),  Allan knew it would take a special buyer to close the deal.  He explained to Dr. Davis that most people moving into 55 plus communities are looking to downsize their lifestyle, and that a 5,000 sq ft home was not optimal.  He told her he was sure there was a perfect buyer out there for her property and that he would find them.  He did.

2019

The perfect buyer turned out to be a son purchasing the home for his mother who needed three full time live-in caregivers.  The  Davis home had a master suite on the first floor for his mother, and three bedrooms with their own bathrooms on the second floor for her caregivers, making it the perfect home choice.
